One of the first things we can do as followers of Jesus is surrender to baptism. Baptism is an outward expression of what has inwardly happened in our lives because of Jesus. Because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, our sins have been washed away, the old person we were before we began following Jesus has been replaced by a new person who is made new in Jesus.

Our previous way of living, our previous struggles, our previous searching for hope is now made new, changed, and finds its fulfillment in the person of Jesus. We are baptized to show the world that Jesus is better; Jesus is greater than anything this world has to offer us and we are seeking to follow Him with our lives.
